Image: John Knox, professor of geography and Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor has been named the recipient of the University System of Georgia’s (USG) 2024 Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award. According to the USG website, “These system-wide awards will recognize individual faculty and staff for a strong commitment to teaching and student success. One faculty or staff award will be given for the research and comprehensive universities sector, one for the state university sector, and one for the state college sector for a total of three faculty awards." The University of Georgia has not had a winner of this award since 2015 and UGA has had only seven previous winners since this award was created in 1997. Dr. Knox is the first UGA Geography faculty member to be a recipient. He will be officially recognized at the annual Board of Regents' Scholarship Gala on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Town Stage at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, GA. At the event, he and other award winners will be recognized by the Chancellor, the Regents, and the Presidents of the USG universities.
